SEASON OF PRAYER Ends

Our first Season of Prayer, running December 2013 through February 2014, wrapped up on February 28.  Thanks to all who prayed for our church, for one another, and for our community.

SEASON OF PRAYER Begins December 1

Beginning Sunday, December 1, we will call one another to take special time to pray in a winter-long Season of Prayer.  The purpose of this time is to seek God’s blessing on our church and our community.  Details here.

LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP - January 18-19, 2014

Dr. Evertt W. Huffard will return to Summit View to lead our deacons in a leadership workshop this weekend.  Dr. Huffard first visited our church in April 2012.  His visit led to the expansion of our deaconship and to the launching of 3-goal vision for the church’s development in the near future.

$2,200+ RAISED FOR LITTLE HANDS, BIG HEARTS

The fifth annual Little Hands, Big Hearts auction on November 10 raised just over $2,250 to support our mission work in Honduras.  Read more about LHBH on our Missions page.

DAN GATTIS RESIGNS FROM ELDERSHIP

On Sunday, November 3, Dan Gattis announced his resignation from eldership.  His decision follows a 13-year tenure of service to the congregation.  The continuing elders responded to his announcement with words of appreciation on behalf of the congregation for the leadership that Dan and his wife, Judi, have brought to this church.

WORSHIP LEADER TRAINING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 15

A new worship leader training group will meet Sundays, 9:00-10:00 a.m., in the minister’s office beginning on September 15.  This group is expected to meet for roughly half of the Fall Quarter (probably about 6 weeks).  For information, please contact Mark Wardrip, deacon of worship, via the church office.

ADULT BIBLE CLASSES — FALL QUARTER (September-November 2013)

1. •The Book of James...This small-group class, led by Dan Gattis and Jack Campbell, meets in Room 6 (in the back hallway).  It continues from the summer quarter and features in-depth discussion of the Bible’s book of James as it applies to our daily lives.  UPDATE August 26, 2013 — This class will finish its study and conclude on September 1, 2013.
   

2. •Books of James and Peter...This large-group class meets in the back of the auditorium and will be led by Rick Kincannon, Dave Cosper, and Walt Ranta.  It will feature a chapter-by-chapter study of the Bible’s books of James, 1 Peter, and 2 Peter.
   

3. •Deaf Bible Study...The deaf and hard-of-hearing meet in the church foyer at 9:00 a.m. for Bible study in American Sign Language, led by Dan Danielson (deacon).  The topic varies.  Please contact us for more information.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES COLLECTION 2013

Again this year, we are collecting school supplies to help our members, Satus Elementary School in Wapato, and local families in need through Love INC.  In addition to collecting supplies to give out to needy families in the church and through Love INC, we hope to collect enough items to help Satus Elementary’s 120 fifth graders.  For them we need 2-pocket folders, spiral notebooks, pencils, erasers, and glue sticks.  Bring school supplies to the church building and place them in the collection box in the foyer.
