BELIEFS & MISSION

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world.  Having committed our lives to his service, we pursue three goals:

  1. We seek to SERVE...

  2. ...by helping one another...

  3. ...by helping the people of our community...

  4. ...by sharing the good news of Jesus throughout our community and the world.

  1. We seek to GROW...

  2. ...in knowledge of God...

  3. ...in obedience to God...

  4. ...in fellowship with one another.

  1. We seek to WORSHIP the Lord...

  2. ...in daily, personal devotion to God...

  3. ...together as a community of God’s people...

  4. ...in our unity as the body of Christ.

SERVE • GROW • WORSHIP

And in all things, we seek to bind these goals together with the love of God at work in our lives.

We Believe

  1. 1.Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior of the world.

  2. 2.The Bible is the reliable Word of God passed down through the ages.

  3. 3.God has called us into fellowship with him for our renewal and eternal life.

  4. 4.God has called us to share this renewal and life with the people around us.

Our Mission

In October 2012, our church’s elders called us to focus on three aspects of our life as a church over the next few years: finances, leadership development, and outreach to the community.

Churches that have been around a while have to renew their financial base and their process of training new leadership from time to time.  Our church, present in Yakima since 1937, is no exception.  Financially, the elders called us to save up an emergency fund to improve our financial stability; once it is established, they and the church will consider new ways to use our funds in ministry to others.  In regard to leadership, the elders launched a new effort to appoint and train deacons to serve the congregation.  They will also seek to develop new elders over time.  This effort has led to the expansion (November-December 2012) of our deaconship from two to nine individuals (now at seven, as of November 2013; see our Leadership and Ministries pages).

The elders called us to develop new and continuing ways to reach out to our local community with the love and light of Jesus.  This effort is continually developing.  A few projects we have pursued as a congregation so far include school supply drives in support of Satus Elementary School in Wapato, Washington; our gifts of baby and toddler supplies to families in need in the Yakima area through Love INC of Yakima; and our Family Baseball League.  For outreach information and events, see our Community Connections page.
