ONGOING COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Basic sign language class for beginners. Taught by deaf instructors and an interpreter. Offered as interest allows. This class is currently taking a break. Let us know if you’re interested, and then check back here for updates on when it will resume.
Pick apples for yourself and your family, then pick some more for charity. On October 19, 2013, 76 people picked over 2,500 pounds of apples for Northwest Harvest (see the photos). Apple Day is held each October at the home of one of our church families.
Saturday night fun for family and friends—bring yours! In the church’s fellowship hall, 6-9 p.m., on the first Saturday of each month. Bring your favorite game(s) and snacks to share, if you like.
Plastic balls and bats, all ages play together. Building community through pleasantly-competitive baseball. Signups in April, games May-August.
Potholes State Park Family Campout
An annual campout for SVCC families and friends at Potholes State Park. Rest, play, and enjoy life out of the regular routine. One Thursday-Sunday weekend each summer.
Serving the community by supporting students and teachers at local schools. In 2014, we collected supplies for Martin Luther King, Jr., Elementary School in Yakima. In 2012-2013, we collected supplies for Satus Elementary School in Wapato.
NEW IDEA IN PROGRESS
Family movie nights during the winter months? This is another idea we’re considering. If you’re interested or have suggestions, email us here.
